Our investment Skillvue: revolutionizing skills assessment with AI for candidates and employees

We are thrilled to announce our first investment in Italy through our participation in the €2.5 million pre-seed round of Skillvue. This innovative platform enables companies to rapidly, objectively, and scalably assess the skills of candidates and employees, facilitating a skills-based approach in recruitment, talent development, and internal mobility. The funding round was led by Italian Founders Fund (IFF), Italy’s first venture capital firm created by startup founders and led by Lorenzo Franzi, along with Edoardo Ermotti’s 14Peaks Capital. Additional participants in the round included Orbita Verticale, Ithaca 3, and several Business Angels.

Founded in Milan in 2021 by Nicolò Mazzocchi and Simone Patera, Skillvue’s innovative technology, based on proprietary AI, carries out asynchronous interviews aimed at assessing the skills and motivation of candidates, making the identification of high-potential candidates immediate. This approach increases by up to 5 times the ability to predict what the actual job performance will be and is particularly strategic for companies that hire a high number of junior candidates or public-facing roles, where the traditional CV is not representative of a person's real skills.

After the recruitment phase Skillvue is a strategic tool to support HR departments in analysing their workforce’s skills at scale and in providing objective and parameterised data on skills for their decision-making. This makes it possible to place talent more effectively in the company (+107% probability compared to traditional non-skills-based methods), to retain high-performers for longer and to build career path sand training programs that are more aligned with the real needs of companies and employees (a key issue for as many as 73% of employees). Skillvue's technology is also compliant with European GDPR regulations and the AI Act.

Skillvue has significant market shares in the retail, large-scale retail, banking and insurance sectors, but also works with companies in other sectors and the public administration. Clients include the French retail giant Carrefour, Credem and Acquedotto Pugliese. It is based in Milan and has a team of 13 people. In 2023 Skillvue was included by Sifted among the 10 most promising Italian innovative startups.

"We are happy about this round because the capital injection will allow us to strengthen our team with strategic figures especially in the AI area, to expand our business on the Italian market, to approach international markets thanks to the experience acquired with clients such as Carrefour and to consolidate our technology with the aim of further improving its application on the three verticals of recruitment, internal hiring and talent development," explains Nicolò Mazzocchi, CEO & Co-founder of Skillvue.

At Kfund, we have a remarkable track record in HR tech investments, and Skillvue presented an exciting opportunity that aligns with our focus. We believe it addresses a crucial gap in the market by offering a comprehensive solution for soft skills assessment, an area often neglected in the hiring process. This is why we chose to invest in their top talented team

We can't wait to support Skillvue in in transforming skills assessment through AI, revolutionizing the way both candidates and employees are evaluated!
